President's Message
Seems like only yesterday I was writing the April message and now May is only days away. So, did you make the most of April? I know for a fact some of our members made the most of it and have lots of trout in their freezers to prove it... AKA Carl, Larry and Dusty...must be nice to be retired! I got off to a late start but I'm catching up. Spring Walleye has been ridiculously hot fishing with no signs of slowing down all through this season. The Walleye population in the Lake is stronger than ever and the 2021 hatch was off the chart! We will have an outstanding World Class fishery for years to come.
Spring Turkey is in full swing and one of our junior members, Ian, put the smack down on his first turkey...congrats Ian! Good luck to our turkey hunting members and above all be safe...and that includes spraying down for ticks. Lyme disease is nothing to mess with just ask me.
We are securing estimates for an expansion of shooting stations at the rifle range. We realize this has been a problem and will correct it. As for when, as soon as Mother Nature lets us get in there with heavy equipment, we'll be on it.
Our June 4th Streak Fry is drawing closer with each passing day. Tickets will be available at the May 2nd general membership meeting and is your last opportunity to purchase tickets at a meeting. If interested you can contact myself or Eric Broud and we'll work out a way to get you your tickets. Better yet, please use the online option through our website. This will no doubt be a great event and we need your participation to make it a success. Please get your tickets sooner rather than later as we have event details we need to finalize.
Regards, Kevin

Junior Membership
The Junior Members Fund will provide a sponsorship to help cover the camp fees for The Lake & Trails – Youth Hunting / Shooting Camp again in 2022. Our Junior Members President, Jace Walters himself has attended all four years of this camp, and plans on returning in 2022 as a Junior Instructor. Jace wants kids to go to this camp because it is a really good learning experience because you get to learn how to shoot many types of guns; including rifles, pistols, air guns, black powder and some archery items as well. You will also get the chance to throw axes, make a knife and even make primitive items. You will also learn about wildlife, how to trap, and even get your Ohio Boaters License and Hunter Safety Course if you need to. And most importantly, you get to hangout with other kids who like the outdoors like you do.
To qualify for the sponsorship you need to help out at a couple general memberhsip meetings and do a work party. Attend a general membership meeting and talk to the Junior Members President, Jace Walters for complete details and to sign up. If you would like to contact Jace email him at Recreation@JaceWalters.com
When you patronize supporters of JaceWaltersRecreation and the Junior Membership please remember to tell their management THANK YOU for their SUPPORT!
